Google Maps now has an API
Google and I just heard Yahoo now have an API to extend Google Maps. I checked it earlier today and this really interesting.
The API seems to be open enough that you could add custom images on the map, hyperlinks etc. It supports callbacks and events.
I can see this being used to create cool driving instructions for friends or even for websites for commerical uses!
