Verizon FIOS
So it looks like my new house will be in the area where they are testing the new Verizon FIOS. This is awesome!!! I looked on their website and my city was in the list of areas they are providing it. Right now its only in about 10 communities in all of California.
For those who do not know what FIOS is. Its Fiber Optic Connection to the House for the Internet. The speeds are amazing. Right now they are offering 15mbps download and 2mbps upload for only $40! Yes you read this right 15mbps! That right now 10 Times Faster than what I have right now. And the amazing thing is the uploads! That faster than most downlod speeds for cable or DSL!
So I am crossing my fingers that my new house will have it available. The street where the house is being built does not even have electricity or phones line in yet but I should know in about 60 days! One of the familes that go to my kids school lives in the same city and they just got it yesterday! It looks promising!

Be aware that it is Verizon. Erik was telling me about the piss poor service they received with Verizon...

Even so, I'd probably try it if they offered it in my neighborhood and risk the bad service.
Yeah I know Verizon SUCKS! I had them for my dsl and then switched over to Cable because I had no Internet for 5 days right after xmas.
My brother is going to get it first and I will see how it likes it. However for 15 download and 2 upload I think I can handle poor customer service!!!
