Google Maps now has an API
Google and even Yahoo now have a new API to extend their mapping sites. I checked it earlier today and this really interesting.
The API seems to be open enough that you could add custom images on the map, hyperlinks etc. It supports callbacks and events.
I can see this being used to create cool driving instructions for friends or many uses for commerical websites!
