Microsoft employee's are using iPods by the thousands and Microsoft hates it!
I guess the Microsoft campus is full of people using Apple iPods and upper management is going nuts about it. Nothing they hate more is when employees don't drink the company kool-aid. Everyone knows that the iPod is the best and nothing even comes close. I would rather use my first 5 Gig iPod that I bought in 2002 before I would buy/use an MP3 player not made by Apple!
I used to drink the Microsoft kool-aid as of a couple of years ago. I would recommend everything made from Microsoft. I would wear t-shirts they would provide at Microsoft sponsered events. There was even a time I would beta test any new product that came along. Not anymore! I still develop applications using .net. Microsoft.net is still my favorite development platform and I would never trade that in for anything else out there. Now, the only time I use Windows outside of work, is when I am playing video games. (NOTE: That is changing too because my favorite game also runs on the Mac)
I used to buy anything Microsoft came out with. Big mistake that was! Besides their keyboards and mice, everything else they make (or put their name on) has much been a complete waste of my money. I purchased their Tivo Killer: UltimateTV a couple of years ago. Now they don't selll it anymore. I dropped $600 for a xBox when it first came out and now I wish I would have bought a PS2 instead. I have their wireless router which does not work right with the VPN at work. So even that will have to get replaced. (Oh and no surprise, they stopped making routers also!)
Hell, I use my Apple G5 for everything not related to work. Since I work at home, I'm using my Mac for email, rss reading, browsing and Instant Messaging. When I am developing I rotate 90 degrees and use my notebook.
Microsoft should learn from their employees and realize that their Windows Media sucks compared to iTunes and quicktime and they need to work harder to make the next iPod killer. Or better yet, forget about the iPod and worry about fixing the bugs and security holes in Windows XP and IE. Finally, please get Longhorn out the door before the next 4 versions of OS X makes Longhorn look obsolete before its even released!
The bigger question I have now is how many Microsoft employees are using Firefox instead of IE? :) Using a iPod may get you in trouble but using Firefox would probably get you fired!

I still use IE mainly because of several sites that just don't look right with FireFox (for whatever reasons). Though I have Firefox installed and am close to switching. I just haven't been burned yet by an IE bug. (call me lucky).
I like the web-based interface to Exchange (it's rather nice). For RSS I use RSS Bandit on Windows (I'm biased as I'm a developer on it).
However I'm a proud 4th gen iPod user. It's odd that Microsoft hates that their employees use the iPod. They don't have a competitor to the iPod.
It's time Microsoft focus more on its core competencies and quit giving a shit about the iPod. They've done a bangup job with .NET and I'd like to see more focus on their OS, Office, and .NET and less on Media this and Media that.
My wife uses an iBook and I like it, but I have to admit, I like my Tablet PC.

Phil, I think your still drinking the kool-aid! That's ok. You will come around eventually!
I think they don't like the iPod because it does help with their cause for the Windows Media Player agenda. Excluding the iPod the market is about 25% that support Windows Media player. I highly doubt they will make a player but maybe there is a Windows.MP3 OS they are working on that people like Dell and Sony would use it to go after Apple. Who knows. I don't have a clue and I am not starting any rumors here!
When you have over 60%+ of your employees owning iPods and on their blogs talking about how great it is, its does not help!
As for sites no looking right with Firefox, I think you have it the other way around. IE does a terrible job on sites that use the new CSS 2.0 format. You've been looking at it for so long in IE that you think that is the way it should look. If someone built the site with a Mac its probably designed with CSS 2.0 to take advantage of the awesome features like getting rid of Tables to make things look right!!
I give you the challenge to use Firefox for a week (Excluding your email) and I thnk you will enjoy it much more. Your playing Russian Roulette with IE. Its only a matter of time before it gets you.
Doh! I mean't the iPod does NOT help their Agenda!
